The interdisciplinary centers, programs and institutes throughout the university have varied missions and goals. Most are research-oriented, as is the Partnerships Advancing Library Media (PALM) Center, a joint effort of FSU’s College of Information, College of Education and Learning Systems Institute.
The goals of the PALM Center are to:
Increase the visibility and focus on issues lying at the intersect of leadership, technology integration, and critical literacies, particularly in PreK-12 education arenas incorporating school library media centers in its focus;
Extend external research funding;
Create a community of interdisciplinary scholars with direct impact on professional practice;
Increase doctoral student capacity.
The center’s goals and objectives overlap with those of other departments, institutes and colleges and will work collaboratively with all who request affiliation and whose interests are appropriately related.
