Annette Goldsmith, a recent College of Information Doctoral program graduate and PALM Center Postdoctoral Fellow" was given an honorable mention in the ALISE/Jean Tague Sutcliffe Doctoral Student Research Poster Competition. The contest was held January 21, 2009 in Denver. Posters were judged according to the significance of the dissertation research topic to the field of Library and Information Studies. Her outstanding poster "Found in Translation" displayed the results of her dissertation. Goldsmith employed a sequential explanatory design (web-based survey with follow-up interviews) within a sense-making theoretical framework to identify editors' motivations for acquiring books to translate, the barriers that they face in this task, and the resources that are available to them. In addition, editors were queried on the value that they place on publishing translations.
